BRUTALIST MOVEMENT
BRUTALIST MOVEMENT
Art Direction & Motion Graphics
I have always loved Brutalist architecture and this project pays homage to the tones and textures of a concrete world. A celebration of light and structure, the project has been ongoing for a couple of months in between freelance projects. The goal was to learn and develop architectural modeling and rendering, alongside physical and dome lighting in Redshift to create a minimal and evolving motion piece.
After initial sketching and planning was completed in Adobe Sketch (iPad) and Adobe Illustrator, the structures were then developed in Cinema 4D and textured with Substance Source and Substance Designer, Rendering was completed in Redshift with compositing and post in After Effects.
The sound design, an attempt at digitally produced Post Rock is a combination of Garageband iOS and Ableton Live.
OUT TAKES & DEV RENDERS
A look at some of the development and test renders. I built so many elements that didn’t end up getting used. Either the lighting got too heavy to render, or I didn’t feel like adding animated trees was quite right. However, here is a selection of renders that didn’t make the final selection, but felt like they deserved to be seen.
